It's been a while....

|
Like what my title said, it's been a while since I last posted in my blog and there is a lot of things that I wanted to share with you guys. Let's start with the news last week. There was a virus attack in my laptop. (I know.... 4 anti-virus and could still be infected???) Apparently, the virus was caused from Sunway Computer Lab when I inserted my flash drive into one of their stupid computer. The virus was called virut and for some reason, this is the 1st virus that I was unable to destroy. Once the system is infected, your system 32 will be gone and your explorer.exe will usually get deleted, making you unable to start-up your computer. Anyhow, to cut things short, the only thing to do was to reformat my laptop. (and delete all my 3 years collection of software!!!)

The reformatting process was a saddening and painful process for me but I have my reasons to reformat my laptop anyway. Among the top reasons are that:

1) I want to try out the new Windows 7!
2) It's filled with too much unknown deadly virus anyway...
3) Windows xp cannot support 4 gb ram.

Windows 7 Yeah!!

Now that I've installed (and currently) using Windows 7, I'm totally satisfied with everything the OS have to offer and the interface was way better than xp. The only drawback right now that I'm currently having is that I have to re-download everything that I ever owned XD...

Windows 7 is a revolution of Windows Vista (in case any of you didn't know) and is a totally tuned up version compared to crappy Vista. The ram resource is actually based on the current ram that you have, meaning that if you have only 1 or 2 gb of ram, it will use less ram capacity compared to a computer with 3-4 gb ram.

Now let's get on with the 2nd news. It has been a while since I tried to burden my graphic card with intense and graphic and so I tested it with some of the most so-called graphic intense game of all time. Among the games that I went to test with my graphic cards are:

1) GTA IV
2) Crysis and Crysis Warhead (both are the same)
3) Call of Duty World at War and Call of Duty 4 (both are the same)
4) Farcry 2

Let's start with the world's highest graphic intense game for pc, shall we? As we all know, GTA IV has the highest graphic demand since 2008 as it was ported off directly from Xbox (which was a pain in the ass for everyone) so, I decided to give a try with my Dell Vostro 1510 with Nvidia 8400m gs. And the result is??? Shocking... I had expected lower fps for this game since a lot of people said that my graphic card is retarded. After configured the game to the lowest settings (but with 1024x768 resolution) here's the result...

Statistics
Average FPS: 22.43
Duration: 37.28 sec
CPU Usage: 98%
System memory usage: 74%
Video memory usage: 95%

Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 1024 x 768 (60 Hz)
Texture Quality: Low
Render Quality: Low
View Distance: 6
Detail Distance: 15

Hardware
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS [Dox Optimised 185.68]
Video Driver version: 185.68
Audio Adapter: Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio)
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10GHz

File ID: benchmark.cli

For my graphic card to get 22 fps, it is not embarrasing at all and I'm actually proud of it! Due to the slowness of the game, I decided to show you one of my gameplay footage using my phone...

Half of the footage is done in replay mode as my hands are holding the phone but replay mode still uses all the graphic memory and ram as well, so don't assume that replay mode is meaningless in GTA IV. And for those that can't (or don't bothered) to see the video, it's just about me jacking a taxi and jumping off a moving and roll myself to death... LOL!!

Let's move on to the second highest and most detailed (I think...) game in pc, ok?

Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Benchmark result

Since it is a 2007 game (and it's considered old...) I was able to run the game with all the settings put medium at an average of 20fps with 1024x768 resolution. It may look slow but once you are playing the game, the graphic fps will change from 30-49. Not bad for my graphic card I have to say.
Call of Duty : World at War

Call of Duty : Modern Warfare

The next game is our famous and favorite, the Call of Duty series. As the game uses the same engine for both COD series, I used Call of Duty: World at War to test the average fps. Since there is no built-in benchmarking program in this game, I will just tell you the fps of the game. The average of the game will range from 20-30 fps and the highest can go up to 40 with resolution 1024x768 depending on the status of the game. During the gameplay it is NOT that laggy and it's still playable :)

Farcry 2

Next, we have Farcry 2. Although the game may sound old and common, it is actually voted to have one of the highest graphic display for the game. I started put all my graphic into high settings and this was the result of my benchmark.

Just a maximum of 42 fps and average of 17.84 (As long as there is no explosion, the game will retain at 25 fps almost all the time...)

To test your computer graphic card and CPU benchmark, I highly suggest all of you to use 3DMark06 as it offers a high series of graphical and processor test, giving you an accurate result about your computer. Here's my result for the 3DMark06if you want to know...

2509! Not bad for my laptop

And during yesterday, our group had no class in the morning and decided to make a retarded clip for our group. Don't ask me about the purpose of this video for I don't even understand it myself. We just know it's funny and lame...

Is it funny or lame?? If you want more, we will be making more when we have free time...
