Two killed after row of shops collapses

IPOH: Two persons were killed and another badly injured when a row of dilapidated shophouses collapsed on passing vehicles at Jalan Kamaruddin Isa in Fair Park here.

The vacant shophouses came tumbling down at about 9.30pm last night, burying a white Perodua Viva with the three persons inside. The rubble also hit three other cars.

The deceased, were identified as Zairi Mohd Sabri, 25, and Firdaus Mohd Norzila, 23. The injured, Abdil Kudus Ismail, 21, was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.

Perak CPO Deputy Comm Datuk Zulkifli Abdullah said search and rescue workers extricated the two bodies from the car.

It is learnt that the three men were good friends from Taman Perwira here and they were on the way to the city area for supper prior to the tragedy.

The shophouses had been earmarked to be demolished and the demolition work started yesterday morning.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, who was at the scene, said the shophouse owners had agreed to demolish the buildings to make way for a development.

This happened yesterday night at 9.30pm and guess why am I posting this? It's because my brother and I were there at that exact moment!! Praise the lord that we were a few minutes late or else my bro and I would be the one trapped underneath. As you read the article, the Viva driver and passenger died in the scene and we happened to see the car in front of us. I think posting a video regarding about this accident would be better huh? Surprisingly, I actually used my phone video camera to record the whole after effect (not the collapsing part though) and you could see how badly damaged it is. I have two videos here taken from myself and the first one was viewed from the front side and then the second one was viewed from the other side of the road.

This was taken from the front view, moments just after collapse. And notice at 2:55 in the video duration, some douchebag (a driver next to my bro's car) told me go home and record but he himself was using his Nokia N90 to record =.=

This is taken from the opposite side of the road
